Hello and Welcome to my website showcasing my Handmade Lampwork Beads.

The Lampworking process first started centuries ago. Today we had a much easier time creating our beads than our forefathers with the introduction of modern conveniences.

The system I use for creating my beads is an oxygen/propane gas mix torch. Glass melts in the flame at a very high temperature. Each bead is made individually by winding the molten glass around a mandrel (stainless steel wire) that has been coated with bead release (a combination of clay and other chemicals). Care is taken the whole time to keep the bead rounded and designs elements are added slowly with spaghetti like strings of glass. Once I am happy with the design and shape of my beads I pop them into a kiln heated at 510 deg Celsius for the annealing process. After the beading session the temperature of the kiln is brought back to room temperature overnight relieving the stress that has formed in the beads due to the melting of the glass. Once cold all beads are thoroughly inspected and the bead release is cleaned out of the holes with a diamond tip dremel tool.

These beads are very strong and durable due to the annealing process and will withstand most general daily activities, but we do need to remember that they are made of glass.

Obviously please don’t let small children play with them as they are a choking hazard.

Please check out the beads I have currently available and if you would like to purchase any of them send me an email. Beads will be sold in order that emails are received.
