From a very early age I have always had artistic tendencies. Over the years I am sure that I have tried every craft known to modern man. From Patchwork, Embroidery Sculptured Dolls, Pergamano to Quilling. Painting has always been a constant for me even while I dabbled in everything else. My early working life was spent in Government Offices I then became a stay at home mum to 2 boys, but later due to financial constraints found myself back working for the Govt.

I started teaching decorative art in 1992 and worked part-time in an office as well. When redundancies were offered in 1999 I decided to take a gamble and became a full time decorative art teacher working from my home studio, which enabled me to participate more in the boys lives. In 2000 I became contracted to an American paint company DecoArt as a Helping Artist. I have promoted their products and designed for them ever since. I always like to increase my knowledge base and take a number of courses in different areas to facilitate it.

I learnt stained glass in 2001 and very quickly became the supplier to a local party plan of copper foiled items. I think that is where my journey with glass began. I had looked from afar at lampwork beads but had kept it arms distance as I knew it would be a big learning curve and very expensive to set up with my own equipment. In September 2005 the lure of lampwork pulled me into a beginner class, it was from that moment on I was hooked. I wanted to spend my life melting glass – too bad if the family wanted to be fed I was melting glass. I have been mainly self-taught after that 1 day class both with books and tutorials available online. I think the 1 main difference between myself and the majority of lampworkers is I use sheet glass instead of rods. The glass I use is Spectrum (mainly) and it is imported to Australia from America. I get my glass in 60cm square pieces and then cut it down into 1cm wide pieces. I hope your enjoy my beads as much as I do and let me know if you have any particular design or colours in mind and I will do my best to accommodate you.

I am proudly a member of the SRA-ANZ (Self Representing Artists – Australia and New Zealand). SRA-ANZ is the registry of a collective of Self-Representing Artists who use Glass as their main media, working in Australia and New Zealand. The logo is your assurance that you are supporting an Australian or New Zealand Glass Artist, and not a reseller of mass-produced product from any where else in the world.
